FEBRUARY 26, 1993


Everyone heads off to the Titan Party. The finalists are announced for the face of the nineties and Carrie is shocked to discover that she is one of them. Upon introduction to Austin Sami discovers her crush is actually Carrie's boyfriend and disappears to the lower levels of the Titan building. Carrie and Austin decide to head out to the cabin but as they are leaving the party, Gus rushes up and throws the acid. Carrie pushes Austin out of the way and catches it in the face.

Marlena makes it to the party and calls Roman. He tells her again that he won't be coming and cuts her off. She runs into John, who is surprised to see her without Roman. She tells him that Roman is coming but he tells her that she couldn't lie to him when they were married and she can't lie to him now. He tells her she looks beautiful and wants to talk to her, but all she wants to do is get far away and she tells him that if he loves her he won't touch her....ever again. She heads up in the elevator to the party but John soon catches up with her and spends most of his time trying to pursue her around the room without much success. Finally, when the photographers mistake them for Carrie's parents and husband and Wife, Marlena loses her cool and rushes from the room. John finds her down in the conference room. She says she needed sometime alone, he says he'll go but first there is something that he wants to say to her. He gives her the Zen speech and tells her that 'that's how it all started, with one man that woke up'. He tells her that's how she makes him feel, awake and alive and if nothing else comes out of this he just wants to thank her for that. He tells her that now he will go if she wants him to. He is so close he reaches out and touches her face. She is flushed, her chest rising and falling as she tries to steady her breaths. He asks her again if that is what she wants. Does she want him to go? Slowly she shakes her head, her eyes glittering with tears as he leans in and kisses her. They separate moments later and, her eyes wide, she leans back on the conference table, John lowering her carefully down to the polished surface. He joins her on the table for a spot a serious dusting (and moaning) as the door slowly opens......

The Aftermath: March 1- April 2, 1993

John and Marlena complete their conference table tryst after lots of moaning and John affirming that this is right...just like it was on the plane. They're meant to be together. Unfortunately sweet little Sami sees them at this juncture and lives are changed forever. She rushes off to the lift where she finds Roman who is looking for his wife. She gets him back up to the party but he tries to find out what is wrong. Meanwhile down in the conference room Marlena is smoothing her dress and checking her makeup. She can't even look at herself in the mirror. She doesn't know why she does this, why they do this when they know that it's wrong. John tells her that they can't help themselves. He asks her if she can deny that they make each other happy, if she regrets making love to him. With tears in her eyes she whispers that he makes her very happy, she doesn't regret that. But she says, he has to understand that this will be the last time. As difficult as it may be, she will stay faithful to Roman from now on.

In the meantime Austin realizes that Carrie's been injured and Jonah becomes the hero and uses his new doctor skills while sending Austin to call the doctor. The ambulance arrives and Austin rides with Carrie.

Marlena rushes from the room and back up to the party where Sami is about to spill all to Roman. She is surprised to see both of them and thinks that Sami is upset because of the boy she has a crush on. Sami tells them he came with another girl and then runs off. Roman asks Marlena to leave her be and then apologizes for his behavior saying it was none of his business whether she took the job or not. They kiss but their evening is soon interrupted by Jonah who tells them about Carrie. They rush to the hospital where the news is not good. Sami is sulking and won't talk to John or her Mom. John is having a hard time not being able to comfort Marlena- but Sami catches the surreptitious squeeze of the hand that he gives her and decides that it's time to tell her Daddy something very important.

At the hospital Sami wants to tell Roman about Marlena and John but every time she is about to, something gets in the way. Caroline brings Marlena some clothes to change into. She heads down to the chapel to pray fro Carrie but is unnerved as John sits next to her and the conversation turns to them. She is blaming herself for Carrie's accident, if she hadn't been with John but with her family maybe this would not have happened. When they get back to the trauma center, Austin wakes up and remembers that it was Gus who threw the acid. Roman blames him and Marlena blames herself and John for not telling Roman about Austin's problems. Meanwhile Austin is distraught at Carrie's injuries.

Roman and Bo track down Gus Bartoli but he has already been strangled by the time they get there. In the highlight of the show, after finding out that John knew about the trouble between Gus and Austin, Roman tells John that he's had enough of his involvement with his wife and children and he wants them out of their lives. John understands that Roman is upset, but, he tells him in no uncertain terms, they are his life and he has no intention of walking out on them now.

At different stages, everyone goes to see Carrie who is still unconscious. Sami tells her about John and Marlena, Roman tells her he loves her despite what she may think, John tells her that he loves her too and he won't let them go and Austin tells her that he is so sorry for what happened. Then she wakes up.

Carrie wants to know what's happened to her face. She's terribly upset when Austin tells her. Roman gets to the room, tells Austin he wants to see his daughter alone and tries to comfort Carrie. He tells her that he will do anything for her and she tells her that she wants him to ask Austin to come back to the room. He does but after Carrie is asleep he calls Austin outside and tells him if he doesn't stay away from his daughter he will have him up on charges that will send him to the State Pen.

Roman finds Sami at the pub and is less then thrilled to see the headline and photo in the paper that proclaim that Marlena and Carrie are John's wife and daughter. Shawn tells him that John is not doing this on purpose - he's a good man and Roman should think on that. Roman (or the character that used to be Roman before Reilly got hold of him) fumes silently. Meanwhile John slips over to Marlena's to tell her that Roman knows that he knew about Austin's problems. He doesn't want her to tell Roman that she knew - he doesn't want to cause problems. Or does he? Suddenly he is telling her that she has to leave Roman and come back with him. Marlena, already spinning from the whole she-slept-with-John-at-the-party-and-Carrie-got-injured thing is thrown for a loop. No she can't leave Roman, she loves him. John thinks she *loved* him but now she has eyes only for Black. (Pity he can't remember that these days.....) She doesn't actually disagree with him, but then hears Roman pull up and begs John not to let Roman see him there. John wants to stand and face him, to stop all the game-playing, but eventually agrees to go for Marlena. Roman and Sami come in and Sami heads upstairs to write in her diary about what a monster her mother is and then sob pitifully. Downstairs, Roman wants John out of their lives. Marlena, more than a little confused about how she feels about everything thinks that if Roman thinks that it must be right.

Austin sits next to Carrie's hospital bed and as she sleeps he tells her how sorry he is and how he wishes he was the one lying there. Jonah and Austin talk about how expensive Carrie's hospital bills will be and Austin says he is going to find a way to pay for them.

Bo goes to visit Carrie. He tells Austin that he does not think Roman will stop trying to get him out of town and wishes him luck.

Sami comes in with breakfast for Roman. She knows he has been working all night and thought he would like something to start his day off. Marlena asks why she didn't get her any Sami tells her she thought she had already gone. She asks Roman if she can skip school for the day so she can be there when Carrie gets her bandages taken off. Marlena doesn't think it's a good idea and says so a couple of times but Sami pointedly ignores her. Roman looks at Marlena deliberately and then tells Sami it's fine. Down at the hospital Marlena goes to see Carrie in a sweet scene in which Carrie thanks her for always being there. Mar tells her she will be there later for the unveiling. Austin is there and outside he apologizes to Marlena. She tells him that it wasn't his fault but also warns him not to take Roman's threats lightly. John also goes to see Carrie. He says he will be there also and Carrie tells him she doesn't know what she would do without him.

Carrie's bandages come off. They tell her it's okay but outside they are all devastated. Carly says she will need reconstructive surgery. Roman finds out John has offered to pay for Carrie's medical costs and is really pissed. Marlena tells John that she and Roman will work out what is best. Roman makes out that he is surprised to hear loyalty from his wife.

Austin wants to marry Carrie. Roman gets Tim to cut a deal to incriminate Austin.. Roman tells Carrie that Austin is going to jail. Carrie begs him not to send Austin....and offers to make him a deal.

Carrie tells Roman that she will do him a deal, Austin's freedom in return for her not seeing him again. Austin comes in and Roman leaves. He asks Carrie to Marry him but she says no, she hates him for what happened to her. He doesn't understand why she's doing it but he says he won't change his mind and leaves the ring there.

Carrie won't see Austin. He gives Sami the key of the cabin to give to her and promises that one day he and Carrie will use it.

Austin turns up at the studio to ask for a job. Jenn isn't interested but suddenly the execs want something Irish on the show. Phillip gets him to play some Irish music on the piano and promises Austin some more work. Jenn however isn't too thrilled.

Carrie asks Sami to get her a long chain, but not what for. Roman talks Carrie into coming home with them. Eventually she does and he takes her upstairs to get settled in. Marlena calls from her conference and Sami tells her that Roman is out. Sami goes off to get the chain for Carrie and when she comes back she turns the TV on. Austin is on there and Sami can tell that Carrie is proud of him. Sami races down to the studio and tells Austin about Carrie's reaction and that she is at the house without Roman. Austin heads over there and wants Carrie to tell him that she still loves him.

Austin tries to get Carrie to admit that she still loves him but Roman gets home too soon and send Austin off. Carrie starts calling her dad Roman and heads upstairs. Sami follows her and tries to get her to talk but has no luck. Austin serenades her but he also has no luck.

John goes to see Carrie. She tells him that she broke up with Austin. He wants to know why - he knows they love each other. He realizes it's something to do with Roman. Carrie says it's her own decision and for the best. Later she is by her self and gets a call from Marlena who is at the airport. She has to make a stop on the way home. Carrie says that's okay and then after she puts down the phone, she goes to the mirror and takes off her bandages. When she sees the scars she begins to cry.

Marlena gets home and finds Carrie in the corner. She gets her to the couch and tells her that she understands how Carrie feels. Carrie tells her that she doesn't know, she is still beautiful, she still has someone to love her. Marlena wants to call Anna, but when Carrie Says no, she suggests Austin. Carrie again says no and runs upstairs.

Marlena apologizes to Roman for what happened with Austin and Carrie. Roman goes up to see Carrie, who doesn't want to know.

Marlena wants Carrie to talk to Kim but Roman doesn't want that so Mar gives in. They are kissing when Marlena sees Sami at the door. The daughter from hell offers to make Roman breakfast. Marlena says that this has gone too far, she wants to know why Sami is being cold towards her. Roman goes and leaves them to it, but Sami doesn't want to talk. Marlena says that if she's done something to hurt Sami then she is really sorry. Sami wants to know why she is being so concerned, she's always so wrapped up in herself that she doesn't notice anybody else. She runs out leaving an astonished Marlena.

Victor and Kate begin to discuss the Carrie issue. Austin interrupts them and makes an impassioned plea for them to let Carrie stay in the contest. After he leaves, they talk and agree that she should stay in. Later Marlena sees Kim, who got the news from Mickey earlier that the judge agreed the murder was self-defence. Kim tells Mar that she will go and talk to Carrie as an aunt, surely Roman can't disagree with that. Marlena arrives back home and walks in on a confrontation between Carrie and Roman. Carrie runs upstairs and Marlena questions Roman as to what is going on.

Austin pitches a story to Phillip and Jenn about Jonah delivering Wendy's baby. He shows them a video and Phillip suggests that he and Jenn become a team. Jenn has to agree.

February 1 - 26, 1993 Austin Enters Carrie In The Face of The 90's Contest

Sami calls Carrie and after a little persuading, arranges to come over to Carrie's apartment. She asks about Carrie's boyfriend, Austin. At that moment Austin is down at the Pub asking Caroline what he should put into Carrie's entry essay for the Face of the Nineties competition. Later Sami goes on about how Roman and Marlena's love is an epic love story. Of course when Austin leaves the pub and Sami is coming in she bumps into Austin for the first time.

Austin sees an old college friend at Salem Place - friend's working at the Spectator now. Austin tell him he's working on the essay to enter Carrie in the Face of the '90s contest and that he needs someone to take the pictures. Since the friend's a photographer, why doesn't *he* give it a whirl...but the pics have to be taken secretly - Carrie doesn't know he's entered her. Sami runs headlong into Austin, and is totally smitten and unable to speak.

Carrie and Sami are at Carrie's apartment. Carrie's carrying on about how romantic the day with Austin was - window-shopping in the rain. She can't wait for Sami to meet him and invites Sami to dinner that night. Sami reminds Carrie it's Roman and Marlena's anniversary and she doesn't want them to have to miss another one. Carrie suggests they throw a party. After donning all Carrie's make up and sticking a bow in her hair making her look like Minnie Mouse, Sami heads out. Carrie isn't far behind as they go out and run around town. Sami runs into Austin once trying to find decorations and such for the last-minute party. Sami calls Kim to invite her to the party - almost being caught by Roman who says she looks...um....different. She runs into Jonah and invites him, then she and Carrie are back at the pub for hot cocoa. Jonah's comes in - he's bought a new jacket to go clubbing tonight. Sami says she thought he was going to the party for her parents. He says he is...the action in the clubs doesn't start until later. Sami says she knew that. She really did.

John and Marlena begin their affair on The Plane.

Marlena returns to the house, glad to see that the light's aren't on thinking nobody's home. Actually as she walks in she realizes she is right in the middle of a Surprise party for hers and Roman's anniversary, which Sami and Carrie have put together. Marlena's thrown for a *major* loop and stammers around, not sure how to deal with a celebration of her marriage after she just slept with John. Well wishes from the familiy have her near tears and desperately attempting to keep her composure, they all think it's the surprise. Let the guilt trip begin! She does a lot of head shaking and nodding as she looks like she could throw up. Sami asks if she forgot today was her anniversary Roman tells Sami to let her mama catch her breath. Caroline comes over and grabs Sami Roman tells Marlena she looks more surprised than he was when he walked in. Caroline, Sami, and Carrie bring out the cake iced with "Roman and Marlena 4 Ever". Sami tells Roman and Marlena that it's time for them to cut the first piece. They cut the cake - Roman helps a trembling Marlena and suggests they split one. He feeds her the first bite and asks how it is. She says it's really good. Roman tastes it and announces they now have someone who can cook in the family.

Marlena manages to get away for a split second and almost loses it. Partygoers call for a speech and Roman toasts his beautiful, loving, and ever faithful wife as who through their many years together has made him the happiest man in the world. She says she loves him - she just loves him so much.

Marlena tells Roman that she loves him and he says he knows she loves him. But she wants to make surehe knows how much and that he never forgets. Roman says he's reminded of that everytime he looks at her, everytime he touches her, he knows how much she loves him. They kiss as she fights back tears. He says he never thought he could love her more than he did on the day her married her, but tonight, he realizes that he loves her more everyday. She has made him one very lucky guy. With that, she lowers her head, virtually sobbing. Roman pulls her close and hugs her as we see John walking up to the front door.

John opens the door. It is several moments before her psychic connection kicks in and she moves her eyes to the door where he is peeking in. Roman feels her stiffen and pull away and asks if something is wrong. At the same time, several of the Brady clan see John at the door and pull him in. He tells them the plane was delayed because of the rain. Marlena pales as Sami tells him Carrie went out to the airport to find him.

John follows Marlena and she turns around to get the fright of her life as he is standing beside her. She asks him what he is doing there. He says she was so upset he was a little worried about her. He tells her he is sorry about walking into the party, he had no idea. She says neither did she, she was so wrapped up in her feelings for him she forgot it was her anniversary today. And then she came home and Roman was celebrating their marriage and He says it's okay. She says no it's not and he has to go. She escapes as Carrie and Sami accost John, wanting to know why he was leaving without telling them.

Carrie and Austin go to dinner and dancing at Wings.

Later Marlena runs into Sami who asks her if something is wrong because she looks terrible. Marlena tells her she hurt her feelings and Sami tells her that she has to look better for the benefit partytonight. She drags her off to the spa where they have a great motherdaughter afternoon. They come out, Mar looking gorgeous and Sami looking like a lioness with all that hair. They are giggling in Salem place when Marlena spies John and she quickly moves Sami off.

Carrie is going to the benefit, but without Austin. It's Valentines Day and they are going to surprise each other. Carrie calls Sami and asks her to getsome stuff together. Sami meets her outside of Wings but Carrie can'tget away so Sami has to take the stuff up to the apartment.

Sami went to Carrie's apartment to take the candles, CD player, and decorations over there for Carrie and Austin's romantic night out. On the way up, she gets stuck in the elevator with Austin. Sami's so smitten with that she forgets to ask his name again. Austin's all nice and sweet and calms Sami down and reads her palm and plays music. They finally get out. After the party, Carrie kicks Sami out comes in. Austin promises her when he gets the cast off, they're going to go to the mountains and finally be together.

Carrie dresses up as a barber to help Austin shave.

Meanwhile Roman heads over to Carrie's but finds her at Austin's among the shambles of his ruined apartment. It has been wrecked but they tell Roman it was just a robbery. They end up having a huge argument and Roman leaves. Austin leaves too and Roman sees him later on talking to Gus Bartoli. Back at the apartment Carrie calls Marlena and asks her to come over as it is urgent. Marlena says that she will. Carrie also calls someone else .

Marlena gets to the apartment and they talk about Roman and Austin until there is a knock at the door. Marlena asks Carrie if she was expecting someone else and Carrie says yes, she called John and asked him to come over.

John and Marlena talk to Carrie who tells them that Austin is being threatened by Gus who lost money because Austin threw the fight. Marlena is upset and wants Carrie to tell Roman. Carrie refuses and begs that they give the money to her so she can pay Gus off with what he lost. John says they can't give in to a man like that. He'll just come back for more. They tell her that they will help in anyway they can and she leaves.

Roman and John have one of their little spats over John being too intrusive in Carrie's life. Then Roman heads home where Marlena has set up a lovely romantic dinner for them. Roman thinks there must be a reason but Marlena asks if she can't just have dinner with him. They talk about Carrie and Roman tells Mar about how Carrie turned to John and says he can't help but feel a little jealous of John sometimes. Marlena says he has no reason to be jealous of him but Roman says when Carrie would rather go to John and he bids $100,000 for a dance with Roman's wife he can't help it. Marlena obviously shaken says she thought that they'd been through that. Roman says he knows but sometimes he can't help it.

Carrie and Austin decide to go to the Titan party and Sami has grabbed Caroline and Shawn's invite and is going with Jonah. Carrie is freaks out over "being" with Ausitn after Austin told her he went and had a blood test and was HIV negative.

Carrie tells Marlena that she is going away for the weekend with Austin. She seems to be not totally sure about the whole thing and tells Mar that she is afraid that she is not good enough for Austin. Marlena tells her that every young girl feels like that on her first time and that if she is just herself that will be good enough. She tells Carrie that no birth control is 100% effective and that she has to be aware of the risks and responsibilities of an unplanned pregnancy. Roman arrives home just in time to hear them agree that they don't have to tell him where Carrie is going. He and Carrie have a big fight and she leaves.

Austin gets accosted by Gus once again, but tears up the contract and gets into a scuffle with Gus and his lackey. John breaks it up and tells Austin that if he has any more trouble with Gus to come to him. Later Gus gets hold of some acid...if he is going down, then so is Austin. At the pub itself Carrie arrives to meet Austin and they head off to get ready for the party.

Alison Sweeney's First Scenes As Sami Brady January 5, 1993 - January 29, 1993

January 5, 1993 - January 29, 1993

Austin lays on the mat but Carrie is screaming at him to get up and at the last moment he does. He knocks the opponent out and wins the $50,000 purse. Later Carrie apologises for her mistake and Austin forgives her. They go out to Wings where Austin gives the loan shark his money and Billie the $5,000 which she gives to John.

Carrie and Austin organize to go to the cabin for the night and Carrie buys a sexy negligee. However Austin has a message from Tim on his answering machine and Tim says that if Austin doesn't bail him out he'll name him to the police. Billie urges Austin to skip town but Austin decides to stay and face the music. Billie goes and takes $2500 of the money she is stashing and says that she hopes she can pay it back somehow. Billie bails Tim out and Bo goes down to question her. He works out pretty quickly that she's covering for Austin.

Billie tells Austin that they have to get out of Salem, she's afraid and he agrees to go. He tries to write a goodbye note to Carrie but she turns up and he takes her down to the Pub where they talk about his mother. Then they go up to the apartment where he give's her his mother's broach. She happens to see the screwed up paper and asks him if it's true - is he really leaving. He tells her he is and she runs out. He finds her outside and they kiss. But Gus's goons grab Carrie and hold her while they start to beat up Austin.

Bo and Billie find Austin and Carrie, the goons have spilt leaving Austin bleeding on the ground. They get him to hospital where Carly says he has a lot of trauma to the head and they are not sure how it is going to go. Billie accuses Carrie saying that it was her fault and that she doesn't understand Austin - she's never had life hard. Carrie says that's not fair, she lost her father and then her step-mom, then she had to go stay with her real mom who didn't want her. She just doesn't shove it down people's throats like Billie. She tells Billie that she hasn't cornered the market on suffering. Billie apologises to Carrie and they hug. Then they go into see Austin who is still unconscious.

Austin is still in a coma. Billie and Carrie are asleep in the room when Carly comes in, in the morning. She sends him down for a cat scan and later she told Carrie and Billie that Austin may have brain damage when and if he comes out of the coma.

Austin comes out of the coma and seemes to be alright - apart from a badly broken arm....Roman discovered Carrie's name in the police report and headed down to the hospital to find out what was going on. Carrie wouldn't tell him any thing and she told him that if she had to choose between him and Austin she'll choose Austin. Roman goes to see Carrie to see if he can get her to talk to him but she won't. She asks him to trust her but he says he can't trust Austin and she is in over her head. She said that he didn't trust her either. He told her he just loved her and wanted to protect her.

Alison Sweeney's First Scenes As Sami Brady

A Shady figure is sneaking around outside of Brady Pub.

Marlena and Roman come in from skiing Roman's about to take off her boots when a knock at the door interrupts. Shady figure still sneaking around outside of Brady Pub.

Shady figure that's been sneaking around outside of Brady Pub sneaks in and uses the phone....gets Dr. Evans' answering machine and hangs up.

Austin is released from the hosptial and goes to stay with Carrie as he can't take care of himself because of the broken arm. Austin walks down to the corner to buy Carrie a rose. She sniffs it, puts it in a glass. Austin asks Carrie to help him with his bath. Carrie bathes him, and he pulls her fully clothed into the tub, he laughs.

Carrie wakes up Austin with breakfast and a steamy kiss or five. Billie arrives and the phone rings so Carrie leaves the apartment. Austin receives a package containing boxing gloves and realizes that Gus sent them. Later he is down outside the pub when Gus stops him. Gus tells him he wants him to fight again. Anyway...later Austin is back at the apartment, reading the very first issue of Bella....about the Face of the '90's contest when Carrie comes home. He stuffs the magazine under the couch.

Shady Figure's back and sneaking around outside of Roman and Marlena's house. Shady Figure looks under doormat for key before taking off big derby hat, pulling out a hair pin, and picking the lock to Roman and Marlena's house. She goes inside and looks around. IT'S SAMI BRADY
Roman and Marlena's phone rings. It's Abe from the house telling them the house was broken into, but nothing was stolen that he could tell. A few of Marlena's files were just thrown around. He tells Roman they can't really tell if anything is missing until he and Marlena come home and look for themselves. Roman thanks him, says he owes Abe one. Abe says he owes him a lot more than that, but who's counting? Roman tells Marlena about it all and she's instantly worried that it was some sleazeball tabloid reporter trying to get a scoop on Kimberly's story since the files were all that were bothered. He knows Mar will worry about it all night if they stay there, so he announces the vacation is over and they rush home.

In the time John's upstairs, Roman and Marlena are awakened, decide to go home, pack, check out, and DRIVE HOME from the ski lodge. Marlena immediately heads for the files and is relieved to find that Kim's is still in tact. As they try to figure out what happened, a crash is heard from outside. Cops scatter and Roman goes out, gun drawn, to find the perpetrator. "Daddy, don't!" "Sami??" (She tried to escape out her bedroom window and apparently fell). He doesn't shoot, just stands there still aiming and the sticks spin.

ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL August 4-11, 1997

In honor of Carrie and Austin's 10th Anniversary, September 8, 2007, we are will be having special things going on at Carrie and Austin Online all September. We are bringing the Blog up a few years to bring you the lead up to the Carrie and Austin wedding and Honeymoon. Added to the Blog (thanks to friends at DaysDownunder), will be screen caps from the time. We will pick up where we left off with Ali Sweeney's first scenes in 1993 in October.

It is July 20, 1997. John and Marlena's first wedding has just been cancelled because Kristen has brought a sick Roman to the church, which of course was a surprise since everyone thought Roman was dead. Roman is taken to the hospital and then to the DiMera Mansion. Kristen has lied to Roman about her and John being together. Since telling him the truth about Marlena and John would be too much stress, John and Marlena are going along with the charade.

Since their FAKE Wedding in September of 1996 (when they married to keep Will), Sami had tried every trick in the book to keep Austin. Sami tried to move into the Kiriakis mansion with Vivian's help. Unfortunately, their plans failed. Soon, Kate began legal proceedings to have Vivian kicked out of the house, and custody of Will given to Austin. Desperate, Sami decided to blackmail Kate. She went to Kate's bedroom and rummaged through her things until she finally found something valuable inside the closet. In a white envelope, Sami discovered scandalous information that would make Kate a very hated woman. In January of 1997 Sami stole Austin's car so he couldn't go on a trip with Carrie. It backfired when something went wrong with the transmission on the car, and Sami crashed. Sami tried to warn Austin but he wouldn't listen and accidentally backed into Sami. When she awoke from the resulting coma, she couldn't remeber the last four years of her life, including her marriage to Austin, and the fact that her father, Roman Brady, was dead.

Sami did get her memory back after she was shocked by her iron while ironing. Sami got another shock when Carrie and Will were on the pier and Carrie was hit by a box and knocked unconcious and Will walked off and fell off the pier. Carrie dove in after him and though they were brought up unconcious, both were okay. Sami noticed on Will's test results, which the hospital sent her, that Austin and Will's blood types were different. Sami tricked Austin and Lucas into showing her their driver's licenses and realized that LUCAS, not Austin was the father of little Will. Sami snuck into the hospital records room to change the bloodtypes, but was caught by Carrie, Austin, Lucas and Mike before she could do the deed. She told them that she had dream about Marlena and went looking for her, not even thinking about her leg. Everyone bought it, except Carrie.

OPEN: August 4, 1997

Meanwhile Lucas and Sami talk, and Sami says though she's thrilled her dad is alive she still will not let Austin annul their marriage. Sami, Austin, and Will all go in to see Roman. Roman wakes up and looks at Sami and Will and smiles. Austin decides to take Will out of the room and leave Sami to talk with her dad in private. Sami promises her dad she'll stay with him for as long as he wants. Roman begins taking about having a strange dream about a baby, and wants to know if it was Sami or Eric. Sami says she's right here, and he comes to and asks who the baby was. Sami says that the baby was her son Will. Sami says she's married to Austin now and they have a son Will. Roman is confused and says he's Carrie's boyfriend, and thought they'd be married.

Sami says things didn't work out for them. Sami goes off about how she had a beautiful wedding in Paris. She asks him if he's happy for her, and he says yes, he's just worried about Carrie. Sami says that Carrie is fine, and is in love with Mike Horton now. Roman is confused, but Sami assures him they are in love. Sami then says she has a favor to ask of her dad.

Mike brews Carrie some herbal tea and they talk out on the patio. Carrie goes through her normal Austin and me will never be together speech. When she claims she sometimes feels all alone Mike assures her she's not. Carrie says she doesn't know what it means to have him standing by her, and he says he'll always be there for her. Lucas, who is eavesdropping, says he doesn't want this fling he started to get out of hand, so he butts into their conversation. Lucas asks if he can do anything and she asks for a glass of water. Lucas leaves, and Mike and Carrie pick up talking. Mike tells her not to give up hope about her dad, and Mike gets a call about Roman's test results. Mike tells Carrie that it's not good news, Roman has been exposed to a synthetic germ that they don't know how to treat. Carrie asks how serious it is, and he tells her it's fatal.

Chelsea decides to watch Will so Austin can spends some time with his wife. Austin was about to make a phone call when a man shows up at the house looking for Austin, he has papers from Mickey Horton!

The man is Mickey's assistant, and as he hands Austin the annulment papers Lucas hears.

At the DiMera mansion Lucas sees that Austin has gotten his annulment papers.

Austin cheers he's free, and then decides to go find Carrie. Austin asks Lucas where Carrie is, and he says she's in the garden.

Out in the garden Carrie is in tears after learning her dad is dieing, and Mike comforts her. Mike says he can't say how long Roman has, and tells her to make the most of the time she has. Carrie hugs him and says she doesn't know what she'd do without him, and of course Austin hears it. Mike and Carrie talk for a bit more, and they both say the other is pretty special.

Austin goes back in and when Lucas asks what he's looking at Austin says it's something that will make Carrie very happy. Lucas goes into the Carrie depends on Mike now speech, but Austin says that's going to change starting today. Austin fantasizes about tell Carrie about the annulment and Carrie says she wants to marry him today. Suddenly Kate shows up and Austin wants to show her something. Lucas quickly slips out of the room and goes to warn Sami about the papers.

Sami asks Roman to do her a favor, and he agrees. Roman then says he can't believe that Carrie isn't with Austin. Sami says Carrie is happy with Mike now, and when Roman asks how Carrie feels about her being with Austin Sami says she's been very supportive. Roman looks at Sami and asks his peanut if she's lying to him. Sami asks why would he think that, and he says he has a hard time believing Carrie is over Austin. Sami assures her that Austin and Carrie drifted apart, and Roman believes her. Sami is happy that he's finally home, and Roman tells her he doesn't know what the future has in store for her. Sami goes off on how he has a wonderful life ahead of him, and that she knows Carrie would want Roman to walk her down the isle when she married Mike! Roman says he can't believe they are that serious, and Sami says if he was to give her the go ahead she just might marry Mike, because she's always respected his opinions. Lucas, who is now eavesdropping, can't believe the lengths Sami is going to. Roman says he doesn't think he could get that involved, and Sami says she knows it would mean the world to Carrie. Sami sees Lucas, and goes to see him. When she learns about the papers Sami tells Lucas to stop Austin from showing Carrie those papers. Sami returns to Roman, and asks him to please give Carrie her blessing with Mike.

Downstairs Kate is ecstatic that the marriage is finally annulled. However, Austin is worried about Carries reaction because he thinks she could be falling for Mike. Austin says that she sees the way she looks at Mike, it's the same look she gave him when they were falling in love. Kate tells him not to even think that way, and he shouldn't let anyone stand in his way of marrying Carrie.

Mike and Carrie are still talking, and he tells her that if she can show Roman she's happy it might make him feel better. Mike then says now that Sami has Roman perhaps they can tell Sami the truth. Carrie says that's a good idea, and suddenly Austin shows up to talk to Carrie.
Lucas comes back downstairs to learn from Kate that Austin is talking with Carrie in the garden. In the garden Carrie tells Austin that Roman is dieing, and he hugs her. Austin asks if Sami knows, and Carrie says no and that she doesn't know if Sami's ready for that kind of shock. Austin says Sami's going to be in for another shock, and says he has some news.

Back inside Bo calls Kate, which distracts her from Lucas. Lucas then interrupts Austin and Carrie, and he tells Carrie to come quick, it's her dad. Carrie then rushes into the house and Lucas smiles behind Austin's back.

Carrie rushes in and finds Sami, who says dad is all right. Sami says Roman wants to see him now, but warns her that daddy is worried about her and really wants her happy. Carrie goes in to see Roman and asks her how long she was going to keep him in the dark about her special guy. Carrie is confused and says Sami told him all about it and nothing would make him happier to see her marry someone as fine as Mike Horton.

Downstairs Mike looks at the newspaper picture of him and Carrie, and when Kate sees him she says Austin better hurry. Austin goes upstairs to see Carrie, and Sami says she's in with Roman and she just knows her dad will like to see him before they leave. Austin listens at the door and hears Roman tell Carrie he's so happy she's found a man like Mike.

Roman begins to cough, and Carrie becomes worried. Roman says right now the only thing that matters is that his children are happy and stable. Roman asks Carrie to be honest with her and when he asks if Mike makes Carrie happy, and Carrie says Mike makes her happy and is everything she ever wanted. Sami and Lucas watch with delight as Austin hears the words he fears come from Carrie's mouth.

At the DiMera mansion Kate sees Mike looking at a picture of him and Carrie and says Austin better hurry up and tell Carrie the truth.

Upstairs Roman tells Carrie he wants her to be happy and taken care of, and tells Carrie that he wants her to be happy with Mike, because he's worried about her being alone. Roman asks Carrie if Mike makes her happy, and Carrie says he does and he's everything she could want in a man. Roman is happy for her, and says she has his blessing. Outside the room Sami and Lucas spy on Austin, who watches and overhears everything.

Back at the mansion Austin runs out of the house upset, and when Mike asks what's wrong Kate says she suspects it has to do with Sami. Outside Austin dreams about how it was his fantasy to tell Carrie the truth,

Kate comes out and asks Austin if he told Carrie. Austin says he didn't, and he's not going to! Austin tells Kate that Carrie is in love with Mike, he heard her tell it to Roman. When Austin says he's lost her and there's not a damn thing he can do about it Kate says "Oh yes there is!" Kate tells Austin to tell Carrie about the papers and she doesn't care what Carrie told Roman, she still loves him. Austin says the only thing he wants is for Carrie to be happy, and Mike makes her happy. Kate thinks she may have said that not to upset Roman, but Austin says that Roman is dying and she wouldn't lie to him in his condition. Austin says he has to stop focusing on what he doesn't have and focus on what he does have, Will. Austin says he wants to give Will everything he can give him.

Back inside Lucas is pissed off because as soon as Austin shows Carrie those papers they are both out in the cold. Carrie storms out of the room and asks Sami how dare she tell their dad that she's in love with Mike. Sami claims she only wants Carrie to be happy, and she plays on her sympathies and says oh daddy has to get well, he just has to, and she hugs Carrie. Stefano applauds as he watches the drama unfold and yells "Bravo Bravo!"

Caroline comes over to the mansion and Mike tells her the truth about Roman without even having to open his mouth, she can read it from his face. Carrie comes downstairs and hugs her grandmother. Back upstairs Sami says that Austin won't leave her now that he's lost Carrie, and that love will come in time. Sami says her dad is her hero, he's kept Austin and Carrie apart, and stopped John and her mom's wedding.

Downstairs Carrie and Caroline talk, and Stefano learns that John and Marlena are at the hospital. Carrie tells Caroline that Sami doesn't know Roman is dying, and she tells her what Sami is up too. Carrie thinks Sami's memory is back, and she has nobody to help her prove it.
Mike goes upstairs to check on Roman and Sami leaves. Lucas tells Sami that Mike is going to tell Roman what has gone on, and he'll ruing everything, but he doesn't. Sami says they are home free, nobody else will tell her dad their secret. Sami suddenly there is one person who could jeopardize everything. When Lucas asks who could blow her cover Caroline shows up. Caroline tells Sami that she wishes Sami wouldn't tell Roman things that aren't true about her and Mike. Mike comes out and tells Caroline she can go to see Roman, and she takes him some chowder with great healing power. Roman says he's so happy to be back and wants to spend every minute with the family he loves, and with Marlena. He also says he's so happy that everyone is happy, and then says God bless Kristen for bringing him back.

Outside the room Lucas asks Sami who could blow her cover, and she says it doesn't matter because he's not in Salem. Lucas says who, and Sami says it's her brother Eric! Downstairs Carrie is feeling guilty she told her dad some things that weren't true, but Mike tells her little white lies are okay if it's for Roman's benefit.

Back at the DiMera Mansion Mike is trying to help Carrie straighten the mess out Sami has made for her with Roman. Mike realizes what the comments Roman made to him earlier were about. Carrie says she didn't have the heart to come clean with him about them or Sami. Carrie says she would hate it if Austin thought they were a couple but Mike says Austin knows her better than that. Carrie says she wishes she could prove Sami has her memory back, and hopes Eric will come home.

In the park John and Marlena are taking a walk and she says she's been thinking about Eric a lot lately. John says he wishes he'd shown up for the wedding, but Marlena feels that she's driven Eric away some how. Marlena says Sami was always daddy's little girl, but Eric was all her's. Marlena says that she feels so guilty that she drove him away by betraying Roman, but John says that it was Stefano's fault. Meanwhile Eric is spying on them from behind a bush.

John realizes someone is watching them, and tells Marlena not blow their cover. John runs behind the bush and grabs Eric. Eric says it's him, Eric, and Marlena grabs him and hugs him.

Upstairs Sami is beaming that her plan has worked out, but Lucas says Carrie will eventually tell him the truth. Sami says he'll never tell him as long as Roman is ick and when he's better Austin will love her and will have forgotten about Carrie. Sami finally shows up to see Austin and she tells her how she used to always be able to tell a little white lie to Roman, but Carrie could never lie to him. Austin says he's been thinking a lot lately, and wants to tell Sami something. Sami says she knows he's worried her dad won't welcome him into the family but she says she knows he will. Sami begins to cry and Austin hugs her.

Marlena and John are thrilled to see Eric in the park.

Eric says he's sorry he missed the wedding and asks them why they aren't on their honeymoon. Marlena tells him the wedding was post-ponned. Eric asks why they didn't marry and Marlena tells him that Roman is alive. Eric asks if he's really his dad, and when they say it's him Eric wants to go see him now. They all then decide to head over to the house to see Roman. On the way over to the house Marlena explains everything that's happened, and about Roman's illness. Eric doesn't understand why John doesn't just by their own house, and John says that takes time. Eric says so what, and asks what they aren't telling him (He doesn't know Roman is dying). When they finally arrive at the house before they go in Eric asks them what they aren't telling him. Marlena tells Eric that Roman doesn't know anything about what Kristen has done or that John and Marlena were going to marry. Eric asks why they don't tell Roman the truth, and Marlena tells Eric that Roman is dying. Marlena tells Eric that Sami doesn't know, but she felt he could handle it.

Eric, John, and Marlena go inside. Carrie is thrilled to see her brother and John and Marlena go upstairs. Lucas shows up and when Carrie introduces her to him he asks what he's doing here. Eric says its nice to meet him to, and Lucas goes off to find Sami. Carrie then asks Eric to keep a close eye on Sami.

In the foyer Lucas tries to warn Sami about Eric but she refuses to listen to him. Sami walks into the other room and is confronted by Eric. Eric says hey sis, walking real good, and all Sami can do is say Eric! Sami hugs her brother and is really delighted to see him. Eric says he heard about dad and the wedding, and she says everything has worked out for the best. Eric says he thought she had forgiven him, and she says she meant about dad. Sami goes off to get Will, and Carrie tells Eric now that he's home he feels things with Austin may change. Before Carrie can tell him she thinks Sami has her memory back Sami and Marlena show up. Marlena tells them that they can go up and see Roman now.

Eric and Marlena go upstairs to see Roman, and Caroline is so glad to see him home again. Roman is shocked and can't believe he's there. Roman hugs him and says your home, and Eric says we both are. Eric says he's going to stay in Salem, and he promises Roman he'll be there for his sisters and him.

Meanwhile Austin has decided to show Carrie the papers. When Austin comes into see Carrie she hears her tell Mike that she couldn't have gotten through this without him.

Also Sami is worried that Eric could figure out she's faking her amnesia. She says if he figures it out he'll lose everything.

At the DiMera mansion Roman is glad Eric will be here for his sisters, and when Roman says Carrie and Mike might be getting married soon Eric asks him who told him that? Roman tells him that Sami told him that, and that Carrie told him she is very happy. Downstairs Austin sees Mike comforting Carrie and thinks he's lost her already so why tell her about the annulment. Carrie goes upstairs to see her dad as does Caroline. Carrie tells him he should get some rest, and Caroline offers to stay with him. Carrie and Eric leave, and Eric asks her how she feels about Austin. Carrie says she loves Austin, but only told Roman that she's happy with Mike so he can be happy. Eric is angry that everyone is keeping stuff from him, but Carrie says they only want him to be happy. Carrie then says she's so glad Austin didn't hear her talking about Mike because it could be a disaster. Eric is still confused as to why Sami would say such a thing and Carrie says she believes Sami has her memory back and is scheming again. Carrie tells Eric he wasn't here to see the change in her, and Eric says he was hoping the sweet Sami was back. Carrie says that he's the only one who can since Sami's true feelings and asks him to find out the truth.

Meanwhile Sami is panicking because she just knows Eric will figure out she has her memory back and then she'll lose Austin. Lucas says if she can fool him than Carrie and Mike are over. Sami says it doesn't matter, when Eric looks at her and talks face to face with her he will figure it out, then he'll tell Carrie. Lucas says that maybe Eric wouldn't rat her out, but Sami says he's always been close to Carrie and if he has to choose sides he will chose Carrie. Mike comes in and asks them what is wrong and Sami says with everything going on she's tired and decides to go lie down. Mike tells Lucas he's knows he's up to something and tells Lucas not to make any moves on Carrie. Lucas says he should worry about protecting himself because it's obvious he's falling for Carrie. Lucas leaves and Carrie comes downstairs and says that hopefully Eric will help them learn the truth. Austin shows up and Carrie introduces him to Eric. Eric then tells Carrie that he will help her.

Eric goes into the next room where Sami is with Lucas. Eric says he'd like to talk to her about her, and she says her life is pretty boring. Sami says she'd love to show him pictures of Will. Sami says she's tired and needs to sit down and Eric asks her if the pain is bad

and Sami says sometimes it's so bad she can scream, but she doesn't want Austin to know. Eric says that they used to kid about forgetting things when they were little but when you lose 4 years of your life it's not funny. Sami says it's horrible and Eric decides to leave her to rest. Eric returns to the other room and he tells Carrie he definitely senses something. Eric says he senses she's in terrible pain, and Carrie is upset that she's fooled him as well. Austin is angry and says a lot of people have secrets

Back in the other room Lucas says all Eric picked up on was that she was in pain and Lucas says this twin connection must be phony since Sami hasn't been in pain for awhile. Sami says yes she was and shows Lucas her hand, she's cut it with something. Sami says that it was the only way she could fool Eric, if she didn't mask her true feelings with pain he'd figure everything out. Lucas tells Sami she's sick and can't keep doing this forever, but Sami says she'll do anything it takes to hold onto Austin.

Back in the other room Eric tells Carrie he's sorry he couldn't help but he really only sensed pain. Austin tells Carrie that he doesn't think Sami has her memory back, and Austin goes into see Sami. He tells her if she's in pain to tell him, he doesn;t want any secrets between them. An upset Carrie runs out of the house and Mike goes after her. Carrie doesn't understand what is up with Austin, he was so cold to her. Carrie says she doesn't think anything will stop Sami now, Eric was her last hope. Back inside Austin goes to get Sami a pain pill and Eric returns. Eric is amazed to see that her pain has disappeared and asks her what she's up to.

At the Mansion Marlena comes out to the garden to talk with Carrie and Mike goes to check on Roman. Carrie tells Marlena what Sami said to Roman about her and Mike and she didn't want to tell him the truth because she fears it will make him worse. Marlena understands and she says she wants to tell Roman that she and John are planning to marry, but she doesn't want to hurt him either. Mike shows up with some antibiotics from the ISA and Marlena says that she wants to know she did everything she could to save him. Carrie says they all know she did the best she could, but Marlena says Sami might not. Mike returns and Marlena decides to go give Roman the antibiotic. Meanwhile Carrie is disappointed about Eric not being able to read Sami, but Mike says not to count him out just yet.

In the mansion John tells Kristen that Marlena is the only woman he wants in her life. He tells her there is nothing she can do to keep him and Marlena apart, not now and not ever.
Lucas finds Kate and she asks him if Sami is responsible for letting Roman think Mike and Carrie are a couple. Lucas tries to avoid the question but he says that Sami has won so far, she just might get Austin in the end.

Downstairs Eric asks Sami what she's up to, what is she hiding. Eric says he's picking up mixed signals from her and he wants to know what's up. Sami turns her back to him and rubs the wound on her hand and starts pressing it. Eric says he can sense things about her and something's wrong. Sami says that she think's he's hiding something because he never came home when she had a baby, during her accident, or for dad's funeral. Eric says that Marlena's parents needed him as well but Sami says he could have come home for a day or two. Sami says that she can sense he's angry about something, and suddenly Kate, Lexie, and Abe all come in.

Out in the garden Eric tells Carrie and Mike that Sami did a better job reading him and hit on some nerves. Eric says he's really sorry and that he wanted to do something good before dad dies. Sami, who's spying, comes out and asks what he means. Sami becomes hysterical and Marlena shows up. Sami asks her to tell her it's not true, and Marlena says she's sorry. Sami is outraged that everyone knew and didn't tell her. Sami says she needs some time alone, and Austin says he'll take Sami and Will home. Marlena tells Carrie and Eric they should go home and rest, and Carrie tells Eric he can stay with her.

Austin, Sami, Eric, and Carrie go home. Carrie says at times like this it helps to be with the ones you love. Austin and Carrie stare at each other for awhile, but Austin leaves when Sami calls for him. Eric comforts Carrie when she says she needs Austin more than ever now. Carrie notices Eric is so calm and he says there has been enough tears shed for all of them. Back at Austin's place Sami promises Will he'll never lose his dad Austin and nobody will ever learn the truth.

Austin wakens in the morning after dreaming about Carrie telling Roman she loved Mike. He gets up to find Sami fully dressed sitting on the couch watching home videos and crying about Roman being terminal. Next door Eric and Carrie are chatting about what's happening. Eric tells Carrie she's amazing for putting her own needs aside for Sami. Eric hopes to catch Sami lying, but Carrie reminds him staying close to Dad is the most important thing right now. Mike shows up on his way to take off Roman's bandages and thought Carrie might like to join him. Eric tells Mike he can tell he cares about Carrie and Mike agrees, but said he'll never get in between Carrie and Austin (please Mike, change your mind about that). Eric goes next door and finds Sami and Austin watching old home videos (we don't see them) and she kids him about a trip to Niagra Falls when they were kids and his weak stomach. Eric tells them about Mike and Carrie going to take off the bandages and Austin asks Eric to stay with Sami for a while as he has some things to do. Carrie threw on a sundress with spaghetti straps and Carrie tells Mike how Austin and her dad are the two men she loves most in the world and she'll never give up on them

At Sami's, Eric catches Sami as she says something about losing Austin to someone else. Before she has a chance to say much, Lucas knocks on the door (big surprise) in his suit and tie. He re- introduces himself to Eric who's hesitant to let him in, but does. Lucas and Eric don't hit it off to good and Lucas tells Sami after Eric leaves that he's trouble and he's just waiting for Eric's twin radar to kick in and detect her faking her amnesia. Sami breaks down about Roman's condition and she can't lose him again. Lucas tells himself it's up to him to keep Austin and Carrie apart with Sami on this emotional roller coaster right now.

The bandages are off and everyone is happy to see Roman is indeed Roman. Marlena rushes into his arms and hugs him with everyone watching and Mike interrupts them and hands them a mirror so Roman can get a look at himself. Carrie comments he's as handsome as ever and he looks at Marlena and tells her she's the most beautiful woman he's ever layed his eyes on. John tells Roman he's going to give him some time alone with his family, but Mike goes to examine him, so Carrie and Marlena step in the hall. Carrie is concerned about how Marlena is handling everything. Marlena tells Carrie there is a conference in L.A. about bacterial infections next week, but she doesn't want to leave Roman alone. Carrie offers to go and Marlena suggest Mike go too as he'll understand the technical jargon. Carrie agrees. She asks Mike, but he regretfully says no as he's covering another Dr.'s patients while he's on vacation. Carrie understands, but agrees to call Mike with what she finds out.

Back at her apt., Carrie finishes packing her suitcase and Eric walks in to find out where she's going. She goes next door and asks Sami to tell Austin where she went and won't be at work for a few days and Lucas offers to drive her to the airport. While looking for another photo album, Sami finds the annulment papers.

At their own home Kate and Lucas discuss the same old thing and the annulment papers are probably too late. Austin goes to see Kate to find out about Billie. He talks about his own problems. Austin tells Kate he's going to give up on Carrie as she's in love with Mike.

Austin agrees to talk with Carrie and tell her what's going on. Even if she's involved with Mike, she deserves to know. Austin doesn't want to tell Sami about the annulment as it's BAD TIMING with Roman's situation. He does agree to talk with Carrie now though, even if she's involved with Mike, she deserves to know what's happening.

On the plane, Mike surprises Carrie.

He told Dr. Haines about the conference and the other Dr. insisted he go and he'll find someone else to cover for him.

When Austin returns home, he sees Sami holding the annulment papers and she asks him to tell her that their marriage is not really over.

On the plane Carrie tells Mike that she believes they'll find a cure for her dad but she just doesn't know what is happening with Austin. Mike tells her that Austin loves her, but Carrie says even if he managed to get an annulment she doesn't know if it could change things between them now. Carrie then passes the time on the plane by taking a Bella Quiz about "You and your Lover". As she goes through the checklist about her true love she fails miserably, she gets a 48. Mike tells her that her relationship with Austin is unique and that quiz doesn't apply to them, but Carrie says some of the questions were right on. When Carrie goes to the bathroom Mike picks up the magazine. He reads the first question "Do you want the person you love to be happy no matter what the cost to you, and he says obviously.

Carrie and Mike arrive in L.A. and Carrie sees that Mike took the quiz and got a 93. Carrie asks him who he's seeing and he says it was just a fantasy woman.

The hotel manager then says that there isn't a room for him and he's forced to take a room with Carrie. Carrie says it's okay they're just friends, it's not like they'll be getting romantic.

Carrie and Mike go to their room and when he sees the list of attendees he sees an old friend he was competitive with and how he always dreamed of the day he could show him up. Mike says to himself that he can't believe what a field day his friend is going to have with the fact that Mike needs his help, he's a very respected bacteriologist. Craig comes over and Carrie hears him bragging about his career and everything. Craig manages to one up everything Mike has done, car, wife, job, money. He starts teasing Mike about how he needs to find a girl and Carrie comes out and kisses Mike

and asks if he's going to introduce her to his friend.

Austin tells Sami, who has found the annulment papers,

that their marriage is dissolved. Austin says he didn't want her to find out this way, and especially now. Austin tells her he owes her the truth and he says their marriage was all a lie and that he never loved her. Sami says that can't be and he tells her that she was a much different person before her amnesia. Sami says she's a different person now and asks him to forget about the past, but Austin says that she hurt to many people.

Sami begins asking questions she already knows the answers to, why did he sleep with her, and why did they get married. Sami begins to bawl about how he knows she can love him one day but Austin says it could never happen because he loves someone else. Sami goes off about how he wouldn't have time to be with another woman since they've been together so much lately and that maybe she's not in love with him anymore. Austin says he hopes she does but when Sami says if she doesn't couldn't he stay he says Sami did a whole lot more that can't be forgiven. Sami starts crying and says she can't take this anymore. Austin wants to talk to her about it but she runs into her room.

Sami thinks there has to be a way out of this, but she doesn't think there is and that her life is over. Sami wonders what's going to happen to her, what's going to happen to Will. Back in the other room Austin tells Will that his mommy isn't the old Sami anymore and he hates how much the situation hurts her. Austin tells Will he'll always be there for him, and hopes he can win Carrie back by telling her about the annulment. Austin goes to leave to talk to Carrie (He doesn't know she's gone) and Sami comes out of her room and says they have to talk. Sami says since he didn't give her the annulment papers he must be having second thoughts, but he says no. Sami says she's terrified of what may happen if he leaves her, but he says it's not that simple. Austin says he's sorry but the other woman is more important to him that she is, and Sami asks if the other woman is more important than his son. Austin says nobody is more important than his son, but he is not and never will love her. Austin says he thinks it is best that she knows the truth and when he goes to leave she cries for him not to leave her.

At the Kiriakis mansion Lucas comments that his mom looks nice and Kate wonders if Austin has called because he told her he was going to tell Carrie about the annulment, but Lucas says I don't think so when Kate leaves the room.

Sami is bawling to Austin and accuses him of not caring about her or their son. Austin says that he will always be there for Will, he loves him, but not her.

Austin says they have to be honest with each other now on and Sami says she's not the hateful person she was ao why they couldn't be happy together? Austin says he cares about her very much, but he is in love with someone else. Sami says Austin doesn't sound sure that the other girl still loves him so why can't he stay with her, but Austin says she'll find someone else because he can't love anyone else but the other woman. Austin says this is best for everyone, And he leaves.

Austin goes over to the Kiriakis mansion and tells Kate what happened, and when she tells Lucas becomes angry and says he's cruel to do this to Sami now when her dad is dying and tells him he's just like Curtis. Kate keeps them from going at it and Kate tells Lucas that what he said is not true and wants to talk to Austin alone. Lucas leaves and Austin says that maybe he's right. Kate says she knew Curtis and that Austin is nothing like that man and that's why Carrie loves him. Austin says but now Carrie loves Mike and Kate tells him to go to Carrie because Kate says she'll bet everything she owes that Carrie still wants him.

Lucas goes to see Sami and tells her that perhaps Austin could love her, but realizes that it's hopeless now that Austin has gone to tell Carrie everything. Lucas refuses to let her give up because he won't lose Carrie. Lucas tells her to stay positive. Lucas starts playing with Will and says that Will is the key to keeping Austin, but Sami says she doesn't even have that hold over Austin anymore!

Austin goes looking for Carrie and learns that she and Mike have gone to LA, but he gets the hotel number anyways. Kate is shocked that Carrie went away to LA with Mike,

but she said she read something about medical convention there and perhaps that's why she and Mike are there. Kate gives him time alone to call Carrie, and learns from the hotel desk that Carrie and Mike are sharing one room with a King Size Bed!!!!

In LA Mike introduces Carrie to his friend Craig and he is impressed that Mike got such a gorgeous girl. Later Mike asks Carrie what she is doing and he says she got ticked off that Craig was ragging on him because he couldn't get a date so she decided to help him out. Mike and Carrie then tell Craig about their situation and show him Roman's chart, but Craig has never seen a bacteria as this.

Craig says that he knows of a doctor in London that could be of help and he leaves to go call him. Carrie says she thinks they might actually find a cure for her dad. Later Carrie is still ticked off about Craig and what a jerk he to Mike, but does feel guilty since he's trying to help her dad out. Mike says they can tell him when he returns, but Carrie says no, it won't do any harm. Craig returns and says the doctor should be calling them back. Carrie leaves to get copy dads records and Mike goes to get some ice. They leave Craig alone in their room, and when the phone rings he answers it because it could be his doctor friend. However, it's really Austin and Austin asks who this is. Craig says it's a doctor friend of Mike's and says that the two lovebirds left for a bit. He goes on and says how special Carrie is and that whoever Carrie broke up with to be with Mike sure lost big time (Carrie told him she dumped her boyfriend for Mike). Mike returns and when Craig tells him some strange guy called and didn't leave his name Mike says it mustn't have been important. Craig leaves and Carrie returns and she's very hopeful that everything is going to work out.

Lucas is trying to figure out what Sami meant by the "it's too late to use Will" comment, while Sami in her own apt. is sitting with Will and worried about the same thing. Austin is dreaming about Carrie and tells Kate it's too late for them and about his phone call to L.A. Kate tells duh-Austin he must have minunderstood the call. Austin said poor Sami is the one in the middle and goes off to check on Sami (who he claims made 180 degree change after accident). Kate offers to go with him to check on her and privately wishes she could tell Austin she has her memory back. Sami puts Will in his crib (the poor kid is just sitting there..that's all that kid does on the show is sleep and listen to them whining.) Sami moans about just wanting to be loved and love in return. She was never the girl that anyone loved. She loves Austin more than Carrie does and even though Roman knows she loves Austin, she never wants her dad to know all the bad things she's done. The most important thing to her is that Will loves her and maybe she should do the right thing and tell Lucas he is Will's real father. Even Will gets upset with all this moaning and crying and starts crying so that Sami has to pick him up.

Lucas shows up and asks Sami what she meant by her comment and she said, ok, I'll tell you. Just as she starts to tell him, Austin and Kate walk in without knocking. Austin goes over to tell Sami he's sorry he hurt her (no, I'm sorry to interrupt here folks). She asks if he told the other woman about the annulment and he tells her no, he didn't know if it was going to work out. Sami tells Austin that she and Will are moving out and will be out of his hair.

Sami explains that they're NOT married, he doesn't love her, and he never even liked her before. She hoped she could move in with Kate as she has everything they need there. Lucas said he'd help with Will over there. Kate is caught and has to agree.

When she asks if she'd be more comfortable with her own mother, Sami said she's busy with her dad. Sami asks another favor of Austin and that's not to tell anyone about the annulment and their marriage being over. Kate asks WHY??? Sami said she doesn't want her Dad to find out as he was so happy for her and Austin says ok. Kate wonders what Sami is up to now. When Kate approaches Austin about Sami's ulterior motive to move in with her..he tells her Sami is not the old Sami and if given a chance, she'll find out she's a kind and caring person. In the bedroom, Lucas asks Sami what's up and she tells him she figures trouble is up if he hasn't told Carrie and she's going to take advantage of it. When he asks about Will, she tells him how Austin being Will's father is an advantage for her and now that there's a chance to get Austin back, is better that she doesn't tell Lucas the truth.

Upon leaving, Sami tells Austin there's a week full of frozen dinners in the fridge and she ironed all his shirts. He tells her she didn't need to do that and she said she did it while she thought they were still married (why is she making him frozen dinners when she thinks they'll be together?). Austin says goodbye to Will and he'll see him soon and helps her out. Kate wonders what she's up to. Alone in the apt., Austin tells Kate the moment he's waited for so long for means nothing without Carrie. He refuses to call Carrie.

Sami tells Lucas she has to take advantage of this rift with Austin and Carrie.

Standing on Kate's staircase, she does her Scarlett O'Hara routine and said "As God is my witness, I will never lose Austin again" and goes upstairs. Lucas has this puzzled look on his face.

In LA, Carrie and Mike return to the room after a long day of talking to doctors. Carrie wants to continue but is tired and Mike tells her there is tomorrow and they just need to rest. Since the door is open Craig busts in and says there's a party downstairs and he expects the lovebirds to be there. He also tells them that some of the doctors they want to talk to will be there. They decide to play along and go to the club. They arrive and meet some of the doctors and Craig's wife Missy. Carrie notices that Craig keeps staring at them and Mike says it's because he's with the most beautiful girl in the club - matter of fact in the world. The band leader interrupts the party to say there is a couple there celebrating 40 yrs of marriage and there's champagne for all. Mike recognizes the name as possibly as someone his grandpa knew so he and Carrie go to talk to them. He did know Tom and they talk a bit. Carrie congratulates them and the lady comments that it's obvious she and Mike are in love. They offer their glasses for a toast and Mike leans over and kisses Carrie ever so sweetly that looked like he was not pretending.

He apologized when they walked off but Carrie understood. As she says it's nice to see someone still in love after so long they stare into each others eyes you can tell he wants to kiss her again.

Lucas is asking Scarlet Sami what she's up to now. They talk about what's happening and Lucas reminds her she that Will is the common link for her and Austin as she says to herself that nope not anymore because you are Will's Dad. She asks him is he still has some gizmo he got from Titan and he says yes. She asks him to buddy up with Austin and get him out of the apt so she can do her thing. He says no he can't do that but after some pushing from Sami he agrees. At the apt, Austin is moping around talking to Kate and saying maybe he is a chip off the old block and goes on to say that he lost Carrie, hurt Sami and is without his son all the time. Kate tells him he will never be like Curtis. He says if not he got his goodness from her and praises her and how good she is. There's a knock at the door and it's Lucas wanting to call a truce and asks Austin to join him for a drink. Austin doesn't buy it but Lucas talks about Will and how they both love him and since neither have Carrie they can be miserable together besides he wants a beer and hates to drink alone. Austin finally says OK and they all leave. Sami is waiting outside in the hall and goes in to leave the device. At the Cheatin Heart the guys make small talk and then Lucas tells Austin he doesn't blame him for leaving Sami and goes on to says that if Curtis was his father he would be worried about turning out like him too. He takes some jabs at the father thing when he says that Austin won't be able to always be there for Will since he's not living with him anymore. Austin says it's time to go but hate going back to an empty apt and reading to Will and tucking him in for bed. Lucas is just glad it's over as he hates stooping to this buddy thing. Kate returns to the apt because she can't find something and finds that door ajar. She knows she closed the door so she goes in to find Sami. They have words as Kate tells her to go and get whatever it was she planted in Austin's bedroom and get out. Sami reminds her she has no room to boss her around and that she has the upper hand here. Kate tells her she doesn't when Sami reminds her that she will fall off the pedestal that Austin has put her on when she reveals that she was nothing but a hooker, call girl or prostitute - however you want to put it. That all her children will hate her as the credits roll.
